In this presentation, I'll share some of my favorite things about FreeBSD and why I think it is a great Open Source Operating System, and I'll make a case for why Linux users should strongly consider it next time they're thinking about trying out a new distribution.
Some of the highlights will include:
* FreeBSD as a Server OS
* FreeBSD as a Desktop OS
* FreeBSD for stability and security
* The Ports Collection
* Upgrades
* Linux emulation and binary compatibility in FreeBSD
* Freedom of Choice with FreeBSD (Gnome, KDE, etc.)
* Licensing: FreeBSD License vs GPL
Especially for someone who already has some familiarity with Linux, I think FreeBSD is a great choice for an top-notch rock-solid Operating System.
* Yes, FreeBSD isn't really a Linux Distro. It's a different Operating System that has emulation for and binary compatibility with Linux and can run almost all the same programs.
