IPv6 is the next version of the IP protocol and will be in use Real Soon Now™. While it is similar in many ways to IPv4, it also has made some radical departures beyond just the simple fact that it has 96 extra bits for the host address. We will discuss the basics of IPv6, how to deploy it on your network (using F/OSS of course!), and some of the potential pitfalls. I will also briefly cover network programming and how you may (or may not) have to change your code to adapt.
Corey has been a Network and Systems Engineer at a Wyoming ISP for the last 5 years, and as such gets to use all sorts of fun network and server tools. Outside of the lab he's interested in hiking, cooking, gardening and photography.
