TriSano: Ruby, Pentaho, and PostgreSQL vs. Swine Flu
The Utah Department of Public Health has implemented the TriSano outbreak management and reporting application to organize and study incidents of infectious disease. TriSano provides interfaces for information capture, reporting, data warehousing, and export, allowing epidemiologists to identify and quickly act upon disease outbreaks in Utah. This presentation will showcase the TriSano application and its use, and in particular the Pentaho-based data warehouse that powers its reporting and analysis system.
Josh Tolley participates actively in the PostgreSQL project and works as a PostgreSQL administrator for hire with End Point Corporation. On the rare occasions that the Utah Database Users Group, or UDBUG, happens to do anything, he's likely somewhat responsible for it. He also enjoys gardening, cooking, and trying to learn electronics without hurting himself.
